In the craft beer industry, aesthetics around branding run the gamut. From minimal design to stylistic illustration, anything goes. With 7,000+ breweries in the US, (62 in Cincinnati) all constantly jockeying and innovating to grab consumer attention, it’s harder than ever to call out specific visual trends that are proving successful. However, in Cincinnati, Rhinegeist Brewery is making a mark not only in the hearts of locals, but concurrently in their palates and pocketbooks as well.
So how is this ambitious brewery doing it? Last March, Greg Althoff, Rhinegeist’s Creative Director, paid a visit to Graphic Village for an evening of learning and knowledge as he surrendered a few discerning secrets regarding their distinctive approach to craft beer and branding. For those of you who missed it, we’ve recorded the session and are presenting it here for your viewing interest and pleasure.
Upon viewing this talk, we hope you’ll glean some insight into how Rhinegeist’s unusual recipe for branding, design and authenticity has established them as a true Cincinnati icon in just seven short years. (Hint: it sometimes pays to break the proverbial rules.) So, click play below (maybe crack open a cold one) and settle in for some truth and branding wisdom. You’ll be glad you did.
